SM3 Shared Facility

Located in Biodesign C144, the Shared Facility offers state-of-the-art instrumentation for researchers within SM3 to characterize and determine the structure-property relationships of their materials.

Phenom XL G2 SEM

Scanning Electron Microscope can magnify up to 200,000 x with < 10 nm resolution for imaging materials.

LNXOR Au Sputter Coater

Sputter Coater deposits nm layers of gold to prepare samples for SEM.

TA Discovery DSC 25

Differential Scanning Calorimeter measures the change in heat capacity of material to determine thermal transitions between -180 °C to 725 °C.

TA Discovery DMA 850

Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer determines storage modulus, loss modulus, tan delta, creep, stress relaxation and more of materials between -150 °C to 600 °C.

TA DMA Q800

Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer determines storage modulus, loss modulus, tan delta, creep, stress relaxation and more of materials up to 600 °C.

Envision One cDLM Printer

Vat Photopolymerization based printer uses light to catalyze chemical reactions to print 3-dimensional materials with low viscosity material.

Asiga Max Printer

Vat Photopolymerization based printer uses light and to catalyze chemical reactions to print 3-dimensional materials with low viscosity material in a heated vat.

Custom-Built Direct Ink Write 3D printer

DIW Printer uses light to catalyze chemical reactions for printing 3-dimensional objects with high viscosity material.

Malvern Zetasizer Pro DLS

Dynamic Light Scatterer measures particle sizes.

TA Discovery SA TGASA

Thermogravimetric Analysis Sorption Analyzer subjects a sample to various conditions of humidity and temperature while measuring the change in mass.

Thermomechanical Analyzer measures modulus and expansion of a sample with temperature.

Circle Up Plastics

Located in the Biodesign SM3 Shared Facility in C144, Circle Up Plastics takes medical waste and gives it a new purpose through mechanical recycling.
