We invite applications for a Research Specialist in the Biodesign Neurodegenerative Disease Research Center (NDRC) at Arizona State University. The NDRC is a center in the world renown Biodesign Institute and the specialist would work in the laboratory of Dr. Ramon Velazquez. The Research Specialist will aid in new discoveries and solutions to better the quality of life for people affected by neurodegenerative diseases such as Down syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease. The selected candidate will perform a wide variety of research laboratory procedures and techniques, specializing in animal behavior testing of rodents, including Morris water maze, elevated plus maze, rotarod, in addition to rodent colony management. Additionally, the selected candidate will perform immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, microscopy, western blotting and PCR on a variety of funded projects.
Research Specialist, Clinic Lab QC (86296BR)

The Research Specialist, Clinical Lab QC works directly under the Clinical Laboratory Quality Director and with the Clinical Lab Manager to oversee the lab’s day-to-day operations of quality and compliance. It’s the laboratory quality manager’s job to ensure that everything the lab produces or does meets standards set by regulatory bodies of CLIA and CAP within the bounds of the clinical quality management system. To properly adhere to regulatory requirements, the quality manager should know or have the interest and capacity for learning deeply about the scientific processes underlying the clinical testing menu of the ABCTL. The quality control officer works under the quality director and medical director to implement oversight practices, including testing, inspections, and other methods of evaluating the products a lab produces at various stages of development. They also assess the practices and habits of the lab’s scientists. Quality control officer duties and responsibilities additionally include writing detailed reports for leadership members. Occasionally quality findings and improvements demand writing and editing procedures and policies relevant to laboratory operations, which may fall under the purview of the quality manager or are subject to review by the quality manager in addition to other parties. The quality control manager should be able to distill complex scientific concepts to inform quality improvement initiatives and help individuals understand the importance of quality and other measures during training of individuals at all levels of the organization.
Management Intern, Marketing (86426BR)

A Marketing Intern is needed to further Knowledge Enterprise Strategic Marketing and Communications efforts at the Biodesign Institute. This position performs a variety of duties to assist with providing strategic marketing support, including writing for a variety of communication channels, including public and internal websites and digital signage to name a few. This team member will analyze marketing metrics and survey data and conduct some online research. In addition to writing and analytical skills, the intern should also be highly collaborative and personable, enabling successful teamwork with marketing colleagues and Biodesign executives, faculty, staff and students. Works closely with Marketing and Communications leadership.
