Tamara Deuser is Chief Operating Officer for the Biodesign Institute, providing leadership, coordination and tactical support to achieve the Institute’s strategic plan with regard to research funding and other initiatives.
Deuser is responsible for overseeing all operations functions of the Office of Knowledge Enterprise Development, the office of Arizona State University responsible for advancing research and innovation. Her responsibilities include leadership of all aspects of grant and contract management and oversight including the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects Administration as well as the Research Advancement staff that support faculty across campus. In addition to research administration, Deuser oversees the Office of Industry Research Collaboration, the Research Technology Office, the Office of Research Integrity and Assurance, the Department of Animal Care and Technologies, the Project Management Office, Quality and Continuous Improvement, Research Facilities and Infrastructure and Human Resources. The teams in her organization manage all aspects of services and support for OKED and the research enterprise across the University.
Deuser specifically focuses on organizational redesign, process improvement and novel approaches to ensure service to ASU faculty and researchers is best-in-class. Deuser previously managed a variety of departments in the Office of Knowledge Enterprise Development as well as serving as project manager for major research programs. Before joining ASU, she held leadership positions in project management and process improvement at several firms, including GE and Motorola. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and holds a Master of Business Administration from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Scripps College, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
