Julie Kurth, APR, is manager of public relations at the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University. Her responsibilities include internal communications, marketing, and increasing community awareness about the institute. Kurth brings her years of public relations experience to Biodesign.
For nearly eight years, she was a senior corporate communications analyst at Caremark, a pharmaceutical services company. While there, she contributed to media campaigns and strategy and created and maintained a speaker's bureau for executives to raise Caremark's profile in the health care industry. Prior to Caremark, Kurth was a public affairs supervisor at State Farm Insurance for seven years. There, her responsibilities included internal and media communications, community relations and grassroots lobbying in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. She started her career as director of fundraising and public relations at NEWhouse, a battered women's shelter in Kansas City, Mo.
Kurth earned her Bachelor of Science degree in public relations from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo. She achieved accreditation in public relations (APR) in 2005.
