Julie Kurth, MS, APR, is assistant director of marketing in Strategic Marketing and Communications at the Arizona State University Knowledge Enterprise. She elevates awareness of ASU's premiere scientific innovation engine: the Biodesign Institute and its impact. Employing communication strategy, she oversees the Biodesign brand and furthers internal communications among a growing scientific community. Julie brings her more than 25 years of industry, for-profit and nonprofit public relations experience to this role, where she has served since 2006.
For nearly eight years, she was a senior corporate communications analyst at Caremark (now CVS Health), a pharmaceutical services company. While there, she led media campaigns and strategy, aided in the product launch of a cash card and formed and oversaw a speaker's bureau for executives to raise Caremark's profile among health care payers.
Prior to Caremark, Julie was a public affairs supervisor at State Farm Insurance. There for seven years, her responsibilities included media and internal communications, community relations and grassroots lobbying in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. She started her career as director of fundraising and public relations at NEWhouse, a battered women's shelter in Kansas City, Mo.
Julie recently earned a master of science in technical communication and writing from Arizona State University College of Integrative Sciences and Arts. She has a bachelor of science in public relations from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo., and accreditation in public relations.
