Brittany Dugger, Ph.D., Department of Pathology, University of California-Davis

In the realm of neurodegenerative diseases, many studies have focused on the presence or absence of a single symptom or pathology. However, many studies have demonstrated persons can have more than one neurodegenerative disease; this heterogeneity can affect disease presentation, treatment options and biomarker discoveries. Brittany Dugger will review clinical and molecular classification of neurodegenerative diseases, demonstrate the heterogeneity among neurodegenerative diseases and how heterogeneity relates to biomarkers and risk factors.
