Ron Chong will share a bottom-up approach to design and build a cell-like synthetic system to resemble bacterial transcription regulation and gene expression. Such a system can be used as a general assay platform, named in vitro two-hybrid system (IVT2H), for protein-protein, protein-nucleic acids and protein-small-molecule interactions. As biology is transitioning from largely experimental to more informational, this type of bioengineering platform could play a critical role in this paradigm shift.
