The Microbiome Facility located within the Swette Biodesign Center for Environmental Biotechnology offers genomic-based analyses including Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) using Illumina MiSeq platform for microbiome studies through collaboration with the Genomics Facility in the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University.
Both facilities are coordinated by an exceptional team of technicians and experts fully trained on Illumina sequencing and in the latest bioinformatics software for data processing and analysis on behalf of researchers. The main goal of the Microbiome Facility is to serve the research community (ASU, ASU affiliates and external users) with resources and support necessary to characterize and study microbiomes.
Microbiome Facility Services:
Terminal Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (TRFLP)
Sample DNA Extraction
Quantitative PCR (qPCR)
Characterization of microbiomes found in:
- Soils, Freshwater, Seawater, Waste water
- Different body sites such as the human gut
