first-of-their kind instruments that will help scientists see deeper into matter and living things. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"lead\">There are several ways you can be involved in the ASU CXFEL project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Research as an undergraduate student<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Work alongside our team to gain experience in several areas, including:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"uds-list\">\n<li><strong>X-ray source development:<\/strong> Dive into the construction and commissioning of revolutionary X-ray sources.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scientific end station design:<\/strong> Collaborate on the development of state-of-the-art experimental platforms.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Science applications:<\/strong> Explore the exciting discoveries these unique X-ray sources enable.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility requirements:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"uds-list\">\n<li>Open to non-ASU undergraduate students only.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students in physics, engineering, chemistry, biology, computer science or related fields are encouraged to apply.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicants must be U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals or permanent residents of the United States.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Summer 2026 research instruments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The research team at the <a href=\"https:\/\/biodesign.asu.edu\/applied-structural-discovery\">Biodesign Center for Applied Structural Discovery<\/a> is working to create an instrument that can be widely available to researchers at hospitals and universities, accelerating our understanding of such maladies as diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure, blindness and infections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"mb-6 wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">While the ASU CXFEL is under construction, <a href=\"https:\/\/biodesign.asu.edu\/contact\">contact the
