Social Media Marketing Intern - DNASU

DNASU Plasmid Repository is seeking 1-2 volunteers to assist with developing and running a marketing campaign to improve sales. DNASU operates out of the Biodesign Institute’s Center for Personalized Diagnostics and is a world-wide distributor of genes from a variety of model research organisms. We provide a low cost resource for the scientific community as well as a method to make gene constructs created in labs easily available on behalf of the original researchers. We are interested in developing marketing strategies based on advertising through social media channels and possible advertisements placed in scientific journals. We are looking for interns for both summer and fall terms.

Desired Qualifications:

We are interested in both marketing students who have an interest in biotechnology as well as biology/biotech students interested in the world of social media marketing. Minimum 10 hours of availability during business hours over the summer is desired.

Essential Duties:

  • Reviewing social media advertisements of competitors to identify successful models of outreach
  • Developing a social media marketing strategy involving targeted announcements to the scientific community
  • Working with undergraduates and technicians in our wet lab to write news items for social media and our website
  • Creating promotional fliers included with our shipments
