Research Specialist


Job Description:

The Biodesign Center for Immunotherapy, Vaccines and Virotherapy is seeking a Research Specialist that will work on research projects related to poxvirus pathogenicity and vaccine development. The successful candidate will perform a variety of lab experiments described below. Responsibilities also include assisting the senior lab personnel with day-to-day operations of the laboratory including ordering and maintaining records; preparing reagents and buffers, maintaining and developing experimental protocols; shipping reagents to collaborators; and other duties assigned by the principal investigator or his designee.

Essential Duties:

  • Virus stocks and purification

  • Plasmid stocks

  • Tissue culture preparation

  • DNA and protein isolation and preparation

  • Protein expression and assays

  • Standard cellular, molecular, and biochemical techniques

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and techniques of virus infections and growth properties.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of modern research methods.

  • Evidence of effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Experience in analyzing and evaluating data.

  • Evidence of effective organizational skills.

  • M.S. degree in biological studies.
