We are interested in the structure-function relationship of natural and non-natural biopolymer systems capable of undergoing Darwinian evolution. This involves an interdisciplinary approach to chemical biology that combines traditional synthetic organic chemistry and molecular biology with genetics, proteomics, material science and structural biology. Specific projects in our laboratory include:
- Evolution of Novel Protein Folds and Functions
- Design of Artificial Protein Affinity Reagents
- Design of Nanometer-Scale Inorganic Assemblies
- Evolution of Unnatural Nucleic Acid Sensors and Catalysts
