All documents submitted as part of the Graduate Application become the property of ASU and will not be returned to the applicant. - A Financial Guarantee Form / F-1/J-1 applicants
Applicants who will attend the university while holding an F-1 or J-1 visa must meet the requirements of the U.S. Department of Justice and the Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) in addition to the requirements of the Division of Graduate Studies and the degree program.
The CIS requires that a student entering the U.S. on a student visa has adequate resources available to cover expenses during the proposed period of study. Therefore, ASU must determine an applicant's financial eligibility.
The completed Financial Guarantee form and proof of available funds must be submitted before ASU can issue an I-20/DS-2019.
A breakdown of the minimum funds required for one academic year (August – May) of study at ASU can be found on the Financial Guarantee form. Teaching or research assistant stipends may not provide sufficient funds for one year of study. Therefore, proof of additional funds will be required.
